    Facebook Just Exposed You… Again…

    This time it’s the private photos of 6.8 MILLION users.

    Facebook leaks and data breaches have become commonplace over the last year or so, becoming so frequent that it wouldn’t be wrong to consider it routine.  The issue before this exposed over 30 million user accounts to hackers.  Facebook has confessed to a glitch in the site’s API, affecting 6.8 million accounts.  This bug exposed private photos of the affected users via third-party apps.

    The glitch occurred and remained active for 12 days (between Sept. 13 to Sept. 25, 2018) exposing users’ private photos.  Facebook confirmed that it has fixed the flaw, but expect this to occur more and more frequently as Facebook receives increased scrutiny as a platform.  Should we wait for it to expose all of our private messages as well?  Where do we draw the line?

    # Windows Shortcuts That Actually Save Time

    You do not need to memorize fifty shortcuts. Start with the handful that remove repeated clicking from work you already do.

    The useful everyday set

    • Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V: copy and paste.
    • Ctrl+X: cut a selected item so it can be moved.
    • Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y: undo and redo.
    • Ctrl+F: find a word on a page or in many documents.
    • Alt+Tab: switch between open windows.
    • Windows key+E: open File Explorer.
    • Windows key+L: lock the computer before walking away.
    • Windows key+Shift+S: capture part of the screen.
    • Windows key+Left or Right arrow: place a window on one side of the screen.
    • Windows key+V: open clipboard history after you choose to enable it.

    Shortcut behavior can vary by application. If a key combination does something unexpected, check that program’s own shortcut list rather than assuming the keyboard is broken.

    A practical two-window workflow

    When copying details from an email into a document, snap one window left and the other right. Use Alt+Tab when you need to switch focus, Ctrl+C to copy, and Ctrl+V to paste. This is simple, but over a day it removes a surprising amount of window shuffling.

    Shortcuts are not a cure for a struggling computer
