Before a provider or technical employee leaves, the business needs an inventory it can verify—not just a folder of unexplained passwords.
Minimum handoff list
- domain, DNS, hosting, and website access;
- Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace administrators;
- internet, phone, security, and equipment vendors;
- computers, servers, network equipment, printers, and assigned users;
- backups: what is protected, where it goes, and when restoration was tested;
- licenses, renewals, warranties, and billing owners;
- remote-access tools and outside vendor accounts;
- current problems, pending projects, and known workarounds.
Verify, then remove access
Test business-controlled administrator accounts before disabling the old provider. Change shared credentials, remove unneeded remote tools, review forwarding rules, and preserve logs or configuration exports where appropriate. Avoid making broad network changes without a recovery path.
A calm handoff is cheaper than emergency access recovery. Computer 911 can document the current state and prioritize gaps through a Business Project.
